Barry Bonds set another history making record as he hit his 714th home run of his career to tie Babe Ruth’s record.
Much has been said about Barry Bonds and his alleged steroid use, but all that aside, you can’t take away the power and presence of what this record means. He is still under scrutiny and a federal grand jury is investigating whether he was truthful when he told a 2003 grand jury that he never knowingly had used steroids. Bonds also faces possible charges of tax evasion resulting from the testimony of a spurned mistress who has cooperated with the prosecutors.
I was fortunate enough to be at the game with my lady, who loves sports as much as I do which is the reason I created Mustlovesports.com for sports minded singles. My only regret is that I wasn’t sitting in the right place to catch that ball.
We can all judge Barry Bonds and either hate him for using steroids, or embrace him for the true great athlete that he is and his accomplishments. It’s extremely likely that there are many more professional athletes that may have used substances that were against the rules that were either not caught, or not in the spotlight like Bonds is.
Personally, I think its all overplayed and hyped and really not that big of a deal. I think his accomplishments as an athlete far outweigh the allegations of steroid use. Way to go Barry, hope my lady and I are able to be at the stadium when you hit number 715!
